About VoteWomensHealth.org

VoteWomensHealth.org is a site created by the Society for Women's Health Research to provide voters with information about the 2008 presidential candidates' views on important health and research issues.

The Society wrote to all major presidential candidates asking for their views on five questions pertaining to women's health research. We questioned the candidates on a variety of issues, including:

  • Funding for Health Research at the National Institutes of Health

  • The Women’s Health Office Act

  • Translating Health Research into Practice

  • Increased Funding for the FDA

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in Returning Veterans

The candidates' responses are available on this site. Those who have not yet replied are listed as “has not responded.”

About the Society for Women's Health Research
The Society for Women's Health Research is the nation's only non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the health of all women through research, education and advocacy. Founded in 1990, the Society brought to national attention the need for the appropriate inclusion of women in major medical research studies and the need for more information about conditions affecting women exclusively, disproportionately or differently than men. The Society advocates for increased funding for research on women's health; encourages the study of sex differences that may affect the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease; promotes the inclusion of women in medical research studies; and informs women, providers, policy makers and media about contemporary women's health issues.
